moreTrees: Smart and Nouveau

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2008, by Beene Olympia

The latest collection from moreTrees clothing company offers inspired styles for the urban eConnoisseur. The San Francisco-based company provides streetwear for both men and women, and everything is made in America from blends of organic cotton, hemp, and recycled p.e.t. (plastic soda bottles!)

moreTrees caters to everyone whoÕs into the green movement, but who also enjoy a stylish wardrobe. The latest line features masterfully produced graphics that blend an urban graffiti aesthetic with messages of ecological renewal. This results in a collage of wearable art that includes polar bears, cosmic starry goddesses radiating upon the earth, and watering cans nourishing plants that grow flying birds. ItÕs visually stunning and very au courant.

Additionally, moreTrees consistently produces the perfectly fitting pant for the ladies and men, whether you like cargos or wide legs. TheyÕve added more colors and fabric options to their popular pants, plus added new favorites like mini skirts, DJ bags, polos, and button downs.

How did moreTrees get to be so stand-out in the eco-industry? Their Creative Director, Meghan Oona, seems to have the green thumb it takes to grow a flourishing green fashion house. After graduating with her Masters in Fine Art from the San Francisco Art Institute, she now merges her design expertise with a passionate interest in current green culture and ethical entrepreneurship.

The moreTrees team, comprised of west-coast artists and environmentalists, travel around the country promoting the moreTrees line and core values: supporting our local economy, using sustainable materials, and infiltrating a broken system with a new model for the fashion industry.

TheyÕve host the moreTrees Think Tank to encourage education and activism for a sustainable now. One of their favorite causes is hemp re-legalization. Hemp competes with synthetics and timber, so certain lobbyists wanted it out in the 1930s. ItÕs now illegal to grow only in America, but itÕs a non-narcotic and would provide a real boost to our farmers. Hemp uses no pesticides and very little water to grow, and has great potential as a bio-resource for fuel, food, cosmetics, and construction material, in addition to providing versatile fabrics.

moreTrees has also given away over 500 baby trees and now works with Nobel Peace Prize Winner Wangari MaathaiÕs GreenBelt Movement to plant trees. For more info, visit moreTreesclothing.com or call 888.853.0389 for a catalog.
